Picture Jasper Sphere

This rare Picture Jasper Sphere from South Dakota is an opalescent stone formed over 100 million years ago in an ancient volcano. Its unique "picture" patterns are created by the presence of other minerals in the quartz. The sphere comes from the Muddy River, part of the Missouri River which flows into Lewis and Clark Lake.
